Safeguarding Policies and Information

At Glenthorne, the safety and wellbeing of our children is our highest priority. We are committed to providing a caring, secure and supportive environment where every child feels safe, happy and ready to learn. Safeguarding is at the heart of school life and is the responsibility of everyone who works with our children.

Our safeguarding practice is strong, proactive and fully aligned with Keeping Children Safe in Education. All staff and volunteers receive regular training so they understand how to identify concerns, listen carefully to children and act swiftly and appropriately. Clear systems are in place for recording and responding to concerns, with children’s needs and best interests always at the centre of decision-making.

We place great importance on teaching children how to keep themselves safe. Through our curriculum, including PSHE and online safety, children learn about healthy relationships, personal boundaries and who they can talk to if they are worried or need help. We encourage children to share their thoughts and feelings and ensure they know that their voice matters and that they will always be listened to.

Glenthorne works closely with parents, carers and external agencies to provide early help and effective support when needed. Our safeguarding arrangements are regularly reviewed by school leaders to ensure they remain effective and reflect the required expectations for schools. Through a strong culture of care, vigilance and continuous improvement, we ensure that safeguarding at Glenthorne is not just a policy, but a daily practice that keeps our children safe.
